Robert Smith And That DM Album Cover

[Moozik: Project Pitchfork - Steelrose]

It would appear that two of my fave bands of all time are involved in some measure of legal hilarity at the moment. I noticed this on the front page of Depeche Mode's site today.

We are getting preliminary reports that Robert Smith (lead singer of The Cure) is looking to stop further production of the album "Playing The Angel". It is said, through sources, that Robert has a concern that the "Mister Feathers" character that Anton Corbijn created for the "Playing The Angel" cover bears more than a passing resemblance to the cover for The Cure's "Boys Don't Cry" single.

Robert Smith takes legal action against Anton Corbijn

Well, one cover has a picture of Robert Smith standing with his guitar and the other cover contains a drawing of a bloke made of feathers.

It's a bit of a stretch to say that the DM cover "bears more than a passing resemblance..." to Robert so it will be rather interesting to see how this plays out.
