I'm now on my third pair of Sony EX71 headphones. My third pair in a couple of years actually. Of course I would much prefer a pair of Shure E3c headphones but I must admit that my headphones take quite a beating. So it's not so much the fact that I'm a cheap git as it is being afraid of breaking my expensive purchase.

For the most part I've actually been quite happy with my $50 EX71's. I usually have them in my ears for most of the day listening to my iPod at work. They fit rather nicely and my ears don't ache at all after usage. And while the sound quality obviously cannot be in any way compared to the E3c's, they are far and away an order of magnitude better than Apple's iPod headphones.
