BlackBerry

What is it about the BlackBerry I ask you? I appear to be the only one in my training class without the crack like device. Everyone is using them constantly even when we're supposed to be, you know, training. It's actually all rather distracting. My lab partner is worse then useless because he won't put down the plastic crack.

I *HATE* the crackberry!!! I don't have one and don't want one! Here in NY almost EVERYONE has one, and chances are if you have to catch a train, someone walking slow in front of you is walking slowwwwwwwwww because they are looking at their crackberry. UGH!!

There is also one guy on the LIRR who I avoid like the PLAGUE - I'm taking my morning nap, and this SOB has to keep taking it out of his pocket and putting it back in EVERY time the s*it vibrates, so he keeps waking me up. B*stard!!!

The Blackberry in itself isn't a bad device. Now, why people feel the need to use them as if their lives depended on it is another matter entirely.

Hmm, I would have thought the iPhone or the iTouch would be worse. :P

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT get one. They are crack. Not like crack. They are crack. Plain and simple. I won't get one because of how addicted my boss is. She gets calls, texts, and e-mails and must respond all the time. That is just way too connected for me to handle.

I got a BlackBerry Pearl two weeks ago. I love it. I can see it becoming addicting, but I'd much rather have a phone I like that one I hate. The BlackBerry, you see replaced a crappy Windows Mobile phone that drove me batty.

On a related note, I love the fact that Verizon Wireless gives me the employee discount on equipment. *cough*

Cindy... yeah, it's just the addiction that boggles my mind. I'm like, "just put the BlackBerry down" ;-)

Jake... I did use use one of my classmate's BlackBerry and yes I must admit that it is very nice.

Amy... ah yes, the iPhone. There was one guy in my class today with an iPhone and he was totally ragging on the BlackBerry users. He was like "why would you want a BlackBerry when you could use this" and then gave everyone a demo. I must admit I loved it and once my contract expires I will probably get one.

kapgar... yeah I think it's the feeling like you *have* to respond that boggles me about the BlackBerry.

brian... I think I won't escape the BlackBerry as I heard a rumor pagers are being permanently retired at work. So, I think I'll end up with an iPhone for personal use and a BlackBerry for everything else. And the BlackBerry I used today was actually rather nice. So, maybe? And you getting a Verizon discount still - nice ;-)

I´m eagerly awaiting the iPhone with 3G, the Blackberry never got that big here in Sweden.
What class is it you´re taking? Managed to have any fn while in NY?

göran said:

btw, fn is a two letter acronym for fun since it´s such a long word to type :-D

Göran... I'm taking a Cisco callcenter call routing class. It's stuff that I'm not really going to need but the class is a pre-requisite for another class that I will need later. Oh, and I love NY. I go home tomorrow and this week has absolutely flown by. Yeah, I usually try to abbreviate all those pesky three letter words too ;-)

My only issue with the iPhone is AT&T.. but I'm soooooooo tempted to get the iTouch. My co-workers have too much fun playing with theirs -- especially in meetings.
