HOT
[Moozik: Hong Kong Blood Opera - Killing Joke]
I've lived in Phoenix for, good lord, over 10 years now. One thing that I'm never prepared for is that teeny little thing known as the Arizona summer. Oh Arizona summer how I love thee. Ahem. They say today it will hit 110°. I went out at lunchtime to go to the bank. What was I thinking? Stay inside with AC. AC is your friend.
Of course this marks the start of the AC wars in my office. That fine balance between those who like it frosty like the north pole and those who would actually live in their own oven if they could. So I took the first shot across the bow when I noticed that the AC wasn't even on and it was close to 80°. And lo, the winds of the north pole did blow. Ahhhhh.
You probably got fried before you even *got* to the bank!
To me, there *is* no fine balance between people who like it like the north pole and people who would stick their head in an oven voluntarily if they could. Since NYC heat sends me into a complete frenzy (which means anything over 70 degrees) and I have to use the subway (absolutely NO breath of air once the temps rise) I put it this way:
North Pole = normal
Oven = GTFO!!
The AC *wasn't* on in your office until you turned it on? Unbelieveable! Knowing me I'd probably give notice, haha!
Luckily I have my own AC unit in my office. When someone comes in and says "ooh it's cold in here" I say "get used to it."
Yeah, the hottest temp I've ever experienced was in Phoenix one July. 111 degrees. The pool was 90 degrees and felt chilly in comparison. Too freaking hot for me.
Dry heat to dry cold. Waaaa. My worst was in Dubai where it was 49 Celsius and felt like 2 % humidity. It was like breathing sandpaper.
Cindy... oh yeah, AC wars in my office are all rather entertaining. I'm currently winning though so GO ME!
Karl... I forget the hottest temp I've experienced since I've been here. I did miss 1995's rather spectacular 121 degrees by a couple of years. So I would say high 100 teens, somewhere around 115 or so I would imagine.
Göran... Yep, so if you've experienced Dubai then you can appreciate what it's like in Phoenix in July. Breathing sandpaper is a fantastic description. You walk outside and the oven just hits you. And we live here through choice. Nutjobs the lot of us ;-)
