Stormy
[Moozik: Rammstein - Mein Teil]
There are two things that I learned rather quickly when I moved to Phoenix. Firstly, it's bloody hot in the summer, and secondly along with that heat, come some impressive storms. Every year in the summer, we experience what's known as the Monsoon Season. Typically this means high humidity, high winds, dust storms, rain, and all kinds of thunder & lightning goodness. It's really a sight to see.
Usually the Monsoon Season starts towards the end of June and lasts until about September ish. This week though we got a little sneak peek of what's ahead.
High winds downed quite a few trees and there was a decent amount of thunder which pleased me no end. (er, the thunder I mean, not the downed trees obviously) Low clouds meant that we couldn't see the lightning forking its way through the sky but it lit the clouds up quite nicely. Picture us glued to the window watching from the comfort of the sofa.

I'm at peace with the - relative - gentle weather of Blighty. Are you a tornado chaser?
That's the thing about America - PROPER weather! Not like this half arsed shit we get here ;o)
Nice tree. I hope your public works department is picking that up for free.
Heavy weather can be totally cool. Unless you are in a tiny plane approaching Barbados and the lighting strikes. That was a bit nerve wrecking, fortunately they had some pretty good rhum to cheer up the moods after.
On another note, University of Phoenix have been kind enough to offer me a diploma without even attending school. Is that something I should go ahead with? ;-)
spd... I was totally content with British Weather - until I starting living somewhere with actual storms. It was then I realized I'm a storm lover. But I do stop short of chasing a Tornado. I dunno, maybe one day ;-)
penelope... I dunno, I do remember a couple of windy days back in Blighty that caused actual tree damage. It just wasn't regular as clockwork like it is here in Phoenix.
kapgar... oh it is a nice tree. It should be picked up for free...at some point...but it was still there this morning.
göran... yeah I think I might cut my ooohing and aahhhing at storms right away if I was on a plane. What do I mean might, of course I bloody would ;-)
That tree took a serious hit.
We lost a tree to a bad snow storm about 2 years ago. The wind gets pretty bad here, too. Lost a canopy (including the scary part of having the aluminum frame snap in half while I was trying to take it down) that same year, only during a summer storm.
Whoa...
Sounds like a good opportunity to practice some lighting photography.
marty... does Utah have regular summer storms?
nat... yes, that's always been something I've wanted to do.
