World Wildlife Zoo
[Moozik: The Birthday Massacre - Violet]
If you like going to the Zoo and you happen to be in the Phoenix area you have two choices. You can have a wander around the Phoenix Zoo or you can have a gander at the World Wildlife Zoo & Aquarium. We went to the Phoenix Zoo back in March and yesterday we decided to complete the set by trying out the World Wildlife Zoo.
We had a great time even though it was just a little on the warm side. I mean, outdoor events in the middle of the daytime in the Arizona Summer are not for the faint of heart. Thankfully though the A/C gods were smiling on us in the aquarium. So, if you like this sort of thing, I thoroughly recommend you go. Just not in the Summer.

As always, amazing photos.
I figured they had a zoo in Phoenix, but never knew there were two. I could see the summer heat being an issue for a good many of the animals.
I have a turtle like that... it got out his tank and peed on my son's carpet. If the beast doesn't watch it, I'm making soup out of it or something.
You may want to visit Out of Africa. Its near Camp Verde, about halfway to Flagstaff. I took my kids there when it was still in the valley, out by the Verde River. The new location is about 4 times bigger, but I have not been there. The animals are in much larger habitats. They also do a show called 'Tiger Splash', which involves people getting in a pool with tigers and playing with them like they are kittens.

Not sure about posting embedded images here, so I'll just put the url to 2 of the photos. There are 9 photos total. Just look at the url and sub 1 through 9 in the file name. These photos are very old. I'm pretty sure digital cameras didn't exist yet.

Dude, those are some serious good pictures. Are you trying to steal my job? ;)
great pictures!
Yeah, the Wild Animal Park in SD is great to visit; but it is a tad warm in the summers as well...
marty... yeah, all the animals were in the shade or hiding. Zoos are one of those places I'm always in two minds about. I like to go with children as they see the animals for the first time. *But* on the other hand I don't like seeing the animals in confined spaces. One of those weird tradeoffs I suppose.
nat... well, thanks very much, I was just swallowing some water as I read your comment and almost choked. Ha!
tony... excellent recommendation sir. I'd never heard of Out Of Africa before. What cave have I been living in eh? We'll certainly have to go. Thanks mate. Oh, cool photos by the way.
göran... as always, coming from you that really means something. Thank you. I'm so not in your league sir ;-)
amy... we'll have to remember that one if we're ever in the SD area. Thanks.
