New Edition
[Moozik: Duran Duran - New Religon]
We've acquired a new member of our household. A 12 inch red eared slider turtle named Coraline.
We got her for free, and had an empty aquarium, so it seemed like a win-win situation. She's so cool and just the friendliest little thing when you get up close.
She absolutely will not stay still. Taking those two photos took ages.

Great colors! Charming lady :)
Wow. That's an awesome turtle. Welcome to the Spencer household, Coraline.
göran... yep, she's quite the charmer alright.
marty... she is awesome. Tries to get out of the tank though. Will need to put up some kind of mesh screen cover thingy above her little basking shelf.
Ahh, just look at her face. I've loved Turtles for years but never go around to getting one. Are they easy enough to take care of?
And she will live forever...
We have a turtle too. WE used to have four. Three are now burried in the back... bad turtle parents we are.
jake... it depends if you're used to caring for anything in an aquarium. Say, fish for example. If so, then yes, Turtles are easy to take care of - the usual cleaning, water chemistry/temp that you already know and love. If you've never done any of that before, then there will be a learning curve. You'll also need some Turtle specific equipment. They'll need a heat lamp and a ledge to bask on, and you must not have a glass lid between the light and the water - so the Turtle can soak up UVA/UVB rays. Email me if you're interested further.
nat... yeah I've read that they can live for decades.
