Cake Or Death?
Baking my first cake at the weekend took me back down nostalgia avenue. As any kid who ever got the mixing spoon from their mum can tell you, cake mixture in a bowl is the stuff of legend mate. Legend.
To be perfectly honest, I'm not entirely sure why people bother actually popping the cake in the oven.
What other food stuff actually tastes less good when it comes out? None. Only cake mix is like that. My suggestion therefore? Just get a big spoon and eat it out of the bowl instead.
I can't believe I waited all these years to give baking a whirl. There will be more, many more and it looks like 2010 is the year I become ruler of the kitchen.
Or, er, something.

I love cake... I'm with you though... definitely batter is best out of the bowl.
Sorry for the double post... I think cookie dough also very edible right out of the bowl.

We recently got a book called "hummingbird bakery cookbook" or something like that (I can't be bothered getting up to check it). It's bloody fantastic mate - even I can make stuff from it that tastes nice. I highly recommend it.

The batter's the best part, my friend. Katie has to swat at me constantly when she's got cookie dough awaiting its turn in the oven.
Try making chocolate cookies next. As Kapar mentioned above, cookie dough is kick ass in it's raw form.

kapgar... yeah I think cookies will certainly be next on the agenda. I bloody love cookie dough ice cream so I'm sure I'm be stuffing my face from the bowl of cookie dough mix. To sample it. Obviously ;-)
