I've used this trick twice. The first time it worked, the second time it did not. In any event, it's worth a try!
Glad it worked! And now you have perfectly flavored rice for a risotto. Bingo! :)
Glad it worked. Bear in mind your warranty may now be void. Most warranties have a moisture clause and a moisture strip inside the devices that changes color permanently once directly exposed to liquids. That cannot be restored. But so long as your reader works now, bonus!
@dave2, shame it didn't work for you the second time, what gadget was it?
@göran, good thinking, I like it!
@kapgar, yeah I'm more concerned about the Kindle working than I am about the warranty ;-)
I did this to a phone that I dropped into beer (don't judge me) and it worked great!
As Dave2's experience goes, it's hit and miss, depending on the gadget and level of water soaked damage. I've been successful at this a good 5 times out of 9-10 gadgets saved. Glad yours worked. And with wine, too.
@jake, I'd never judge anyone.
@marty, yeah based on what I'd read I knew it was touch and go as to whether it would even work but I thought I'd try regardless. Nothing to lose at that point.
