Ten Years Of Flickr

Yesterday was my 10th anniversary of being a Flickr member. Where does the time go eh? It seemed like only yesterday I was getting into photography and happened to stumble across a little site where I could happily upload my pics without the need to host something myself. And here I am 12,464 pics later.

Over the years other photography sites have appeared, Flickr not the big kid on the block anymore certainly, but it's had a resurgence of late. I love the infinite scroll, larger photos, better landing pages, great mobile app. So many many great photographers uploading some fantastic work every day. I could browse Explore all day long.

When it comes time to renew my membership, this one is always a no brainer. So here's to another 10 years.

    Congratulations!

My tenth isn't until next summer. Now I really should get around to that massive backlog of photos to process…

My decade should be coming up soon too. Gotta check on that.

Funny thing: while Flickr is setting I'd be willing to pay for, the recent change makes it so that I don't have to. Free works.

Yeah the benefits of the pro vs free (if you were pro before the 1TB giveaway to everyone) are unlimited storage, stats, and no ads ever for you or anyone else browsing your page/photos. I usually like to give sites I love some money anyway just to show my support. And as the old adage says "if you're not paying for the product you are the product".

I don't comment here much anymore but I do always look at your photos as they're great. Congratulations on 10 years of Flickr. I don't think I've stuck with any online service that long.

Congrats on 10 years. 10 Years is still a long time on the internet.

I've got 3 more years before my 10 year with Flickr (Oct 2007 is when I joined).
