This week's Friday Flickr theme should probably be something all Friday the 13th'y. But it isn't, because I'm good like that.

Cereal Killer

And today in cereal news, I think I'd be remiss if I didn't point out two very important points. As a public service you understand. Because I'm good like that.

Firstly Grape Nuts is perhaps the worst named cereal in the history of ever. For it cunningly contains neither grapes nor nuts. Secondly, Grape Nuts is perhaps the finest tasting cereal in the history of ever.

Filled

And hell yes last night was cereal night. I know, I know, life on the edge. But it's funny at this age when you still think you're getting away with something when you have a big bowl of cereal at night.

No? Just me then?

It's been a couple of weeks since I've done a Friday Flickr. As with last time I haven't really been overly thrilled with anything I've taken recently so I'm going to go with a theme instead.

So, from the vaults, this week's theme is vrooom.

I didn't really take all that many photos this week and those that I did, I wasn't all that happy with. So this week's Friday Flickr will have a slightly different theme. This week's theme is on the ground.

I don't know if I really take enough photos in any given week to make Friday Flickr a regular thing. But you never know, and it seems like it might be kinda fun, so we'll see what happens.

Beardo

| Comments (16)

About 18 months or so ago, ish, Hazel talked me into growing a beard. Not convinced I wouldn't look like a total wanker, I hesitantly agreed. And you know what, I sort of liked it after a while.

Then a teeny bit of beard boredom set in and I began to think Grizzy Adams. Something a little more cast away on a desert island kind of thing. You know, like you do. Back in January I pondered...

I've had a beard for about, hmm, 10 months now. I like it. But you know what I'd really like? I'd like one of those 2 foot beards, all cast away on a desert island kind of thing. That would be cool.

Yeah, so er, obviously that didn't happen.

But I haven't used those beard clipper thingies now for about two weeks and it's starting to look a little scruffy, a little survivor, a little trapped in a log cabin.

Beardo

So I'm at one of those beard crossroads. Trim or go for the gold? The time could be right to give it a whirl...

It's been a while since I done one of those "here's a bunch of random photos I've taken recently" posts. So, er, here's a bunch of random photos I've taken recently.

scavenger.jpgSo last week I was captain late boy getting my submission in. That won't happen again next week I told myself, I'll do it at the beginning of the week.

Ahem.

Anyhoo, so here we are on the fourth week of kapgar's photo scavenger hunt. This week's challenge has lyrics from Korn, Primal Scream, and the theme song to Gilligan's Island.

"Feelin' like a freak on a leash, feelin' like I have no release." Korn - Freak On A Leash

scavenger.jpgOoops, slightly late with this week's scavenger hunt post. Technically the challenge ended yesterday and I concede that I totally blew it for this week.

But not to worry because I'm going to pretend I'm on time and post these anyway.

So here we are on the third week of kapgar's photo scavenger hunt. This week's challenge has lyrics from Pearl Jam, The Beatles, and Stevie Wonder.

"I'm spinning, oh, I'm spinning. How quick the sun can drop away." - Pearl Jam, Black.

"Help me get my feet back on the ground. Won't you please, please help me?" The Beatles - Help!

In honor of tonight's episode of Lost, I thought it only fitting to showcase one of my many talents. Play-Doh sculptor extraordinaire. (ahem)

Smoke Monster

Good lord I'm going to miss Lost once it's gone.

You know, the more I look at that picture, the more it doesn't look right at all. But that's a different matter entirely.

scavenger.jpgBlimey, another week down already. So here we are on the second week of kapgar's photo scavenger hunt. Last week's challenge was all kinds of fun and this week proved to be no different.

This week we have three new song lyrics from Mötley Crüe, Bad Company, and Pearl Jam.

So, here are my interpretations of each.

"I'm the one they call Dr. Feelgood, I'm the one that makes you feel alright." - Mötley Crüe, Dr Feelgood

Dr Feelgood

Dr Feelgood

"Bad company, and I can't deny. Bad company, 'til the day I die." - Bad Company, Bad Company.

'til The Day I Die

Till The Die I Die

"When something's old, I wanna put a bit of shine on it." - Pearl Jam, The Fixer.

Something Old

Something Old

As always, I'm looking forward to seeing what other people come up with. Until next week then...

scavenger.jpgSo, what happened was, kapgar came up with the idea for a photo scavenger hunt.

Each week we have to come up with photos that interpret lyrics from three different songs. Which is a rather cool, if somewhat challenging idea.

The first week's challenge has been issued and has lyrics from INXS, Smashing Pumpkins, and The Rolling Stones.

So here are the lyrics and my interpretation.

"Look at the faces, listen to the bells, it's hard to believe we need a place called hell." - INXS, Devil Inside.

Look At The Face

Look At The Face

"Time is never time at all, you can never ever leave." - Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight, Tonight.

Time Is Never Time At All

Time Is Never Time At All

"I'll never be your beast of burden, so let's go home and draw the curtains." - The Rolling Stones - Beast Of Burden.

No Beast Of Burden

No Beast Of Burden

As with all things photogrificated, I thought this was really fun. I can't wait to see what other people come up with.

Thanks Teenagers

In the last couple of weeks the wall by the side of our house has been adorned with the most fabulous examples of street art. And by fabulous I mean worst I've ever seen in my whole life.

Look, I like street art or graffiti as much as the next lover of, er, street art and graffiti but really, if you're going to take the time to spray, at least do something good.

Clearly no Banksy. What is going on with that 'T' at the end anyway?

Set In Stone

And I really don't know what we've ever done to Bitch Posey but I'm thankful that Pearl brought this pressing matter to our attention.

You know, for when SPF 75 just isn't cutting the mustard anymore, behold, SPF 110.

110

I'm pretty sure SPF 110 is a blanket. I'm also pretty sure that if you need SPF 110, you probably shouldn't be going outside. Ever. For you are, in fact, a Vampire.

It's Friday, been a long week, so obviously there's really only one thing to do. Show you some Englishy things in Uncle Kev's kitchen that made him smile and remember Blighty. As you do.

First up that bastion of "ugh, what the hell is that?", my old friend Marmite.

Spread Me

Was really quite amusing to see my better half's reaction as she ate some. Classic would be an understatement. One thing is certain, she won't be going back for more.

Next, it's the crumbliest, flakiest milk chocolate in the world. Those in England will know that back in the day (I don't know if they still do it), Cadbury's ran some rather suggestive ads that basically showed a woman going down on a Flake. I kid you not.

Crumbliest, Flakiest Milk Chocolate In The World

Right, and last of all, two chocolate bars that I ate copious amounts of as a kid. So nice to see that they still make them. Crunchie, and Yorkie. Note: Yorkie bars are clearly not for girls, because it says so right there on the wrapper.

Little Bit Of England

You're welcome.

At the end of last year I decided to do one of those take a photo every single day projects and throw them up on Flickr. Over the years I've seen many of these 365 type projects at various places but never seriously considered doing one until now.

So on January 1st I created the iPhone 365 set on Flickr and posted the first photo. And by some bizarre fluke, I haven't missed a day yet - which actually surprises me. The nice thing about using my phone is that (a) it goes with me everywhere and (b) I can upload to Flickr immediately without having to wait to get home, transfer pics to my laptop etc. I like that.

One thing that has surprised me is that in decent light, the iPhone camera isn't actually that bad. No DSLR obviously but for a phone camera, it's quite good. I quite liked these six.

Recent Rodney

| Comments (7)

So what has our valiant little trooper Rodney been up to recently?

After years of being on the wagon, he went back on crack. Not the best thing for his health though, we're working on that.

On Crack

Went on the trail of the one legged hopping beast of old London Town. In Sedona. Which was weird.

On The Trail In Red Rock Country

He looked death straight in the eye pushed an elastic band ball. For a good two and a half miles inches.

Push Rodney, Push

He temporarily lost his focus in a wild west town. Secretly I think he's spent the day in that pub back there.

Losing His Focus

And just last night, had to fight his way out of some gloriously painted easter eggs, er, I mean escape from some alien capture pods. Yeah, that's it.

Ahhhh, Trapped!

Previously: Stormin' Norman pool, Stormin' Norman's adventures, Rodney Rangerfield

If you've ever been to Sedona you know what an amazingly scenic place it really is. Just hanging out in the uptown shopping district in the cafes sipping a frosty beverage on the terrace is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

Cafe Terrace View

But to fully experience Sedona, in my opinion, you just have to do an off road jeep tour. Years ago I went on one of the Pink Jeep tours and had a lot of fun. This time around we tried the Red Rock Jeep tour and I thoroughly recommend it. More-so than the Pink Jeeps actually.

Of course it helps if your guide is both completely hilarious and totally mad.

In short, it was well worth the time and money. If you ever find yourself in Sedona, go on a jeep tour. You won't regret it.
