All The Predators
What happened was, inspired by the recent watching of Prey, we were talking about Predator movies at work. And so begins the team watch of all of them in order. I'm this far in:
Predator
Predator 2
Alien vs Predator
Aliens vs Predator Requiem
Thus far they have gotten progressively less good as they go. But still all entertaining nonetheless.
Three left to go, one I've not seen before (Predators), the likely worst one of them all (The Predator), and then ending on a high note with Prey.
Yeah, they bookend it well with the original and Prey, comparatively, everything in the middle sucks rocks. However I do think Predators isn't so bad and neither is the original AvP.
My theory is that this story works best in environments with which we're wholly unfamiliar… Central American jungle, 1700s northern plains, Antarctica, and alien planet.
The ones where we can be familiar with the environment don't work or hold up well… "1997" Los Angeles, modern Montana, modern Florida.
As much as I loved Predator 2 back in the day, it does not age well.
Predators was really good. The Predator not so much. But then Prey excellent again on second watch. Couldn't agree with you more. And yeah, Predator 2 did not age as well as I thought it would.
