This rolled in late afternoon.  The sky was completely black 20 mins later.  So what to do but sip some red wine and look to the heavens to see how it unfolds.

No rain or thunder this time.

Writing

I'm going to start writing a bit more here. The problem, I think, lies perhaps in age. And time. And commitment. I know for a fact there won't be any epic tomes so will make no promises there. So these will be little post-ettes I think. Things that would fit nicely on Twitter. Except here instead.

Yesterday marked the first day we've needed to have the AC on in 2018. 90° days are upon us in the desert and it all seems too soon. I swear every year I find myself going "did we have the AC on by this point last year?". We probably did. Similarly in August I'll go "was it really this hot last year?". It probably was.

Inside Out And Round & Round

Peoria, 2017.

When you live in the Sonoran Desert area of the Southwest, summers are interesting things. 115° during the hottest part of the day is normal. You go from air conditioned building to air conditioned building to air conditioned car and think nothing of it.

October is around the corner which means it's now cool enough outside in the mornings to have the windows open. It's the little things in life.

So this is what fresh air is. I remember this.

The Missing

It's getting much harder to rise from the warmth of bed this week. Gone, apparently, is the late late Autumn heat. Replaced with frost on car windows and the amazement of seeing your breath in the desert. The sunrises are still lovely this time of year mind and I smile while sitting in gridlock listening to Maps.
