I've been meaning to upgrade the disk in my laptop for a while now.
You should mate, the performance increase is like night and day.

Yep, you and I have the exact same model. This drive swap out was actually on my work MBP. I haven't swapped out the drive on my personal MBP yet primarily for capacity reasons. I have so much music & photos that a SSD of adequate size is somewhat cost prohibitive. I keep wanting to do that optical drive replacement project and have two drives. SSD for the OS and apps and then far larger HDD for storage. I think this is the year to do it.
